Speak-Writing

This is a session dictated by voice. I only, well, I only slightly thought about that first sentence, and these following sentences will have no thought going into them. They will just come straight from the core. There will be no intersection, no moment of loading, they are just coming out straight from the centre.

And so, well, the other thing is that I haven't thought of a topic for this one. The topic is: it's a different style, it's dictation by voice, and so maybe I should begin there.

The idea of dictation by voice and dictation by mind, no, hmm, what do I call it, what do I call-- the incubator, maybe? That is the word, incubator. It's a space where thought is allowed to fall into sentences - well, isn't that what I'm doing now? I guess that isn't a difference. So what is the difference? What is the difference between speaking and think-writing? Isn't this thinking as well? It requires my brain, it requires me to engage, how is this not thinking? I suppose it's because there's no moment in between, there is no space in the brain, it is just there is no gap.

It's as though the brain is a house and the voice is the door. And whatever is inside the brain goes straight out of the door from the house. Whereas with think-writing you have space for the thought to go to another room before it exits the house. That's the difference.

But what is it really, I mean, is this way more honest? I mean yes, because it's more difficult to lie without thought. Lies necessitate thought. They must because the truth is central to the being.

I guess it depends if there are lies you have within yourself that are now part of your core. If those lies are part of your core they will come naturally out of you in speaking. If they are not, you're required to think, make that lie, form it in your rooms, in your house, and then disperse.

So this form is more truthful, more guttural, more primal, and perhaps it is a better way to write.

We are writing every day in our conversations. If this is a form of writing, we are writing constantly, we are all writers. So is it not a form of writing? Is it too simple to say we are all writers? Is it too, are we praising too quickly?

Perhaps another thing with dictation by voice is that, theoretically, I could continue on and on and on and on and on.

I cannot see what I am writing because I am driving, I am focused on the road. And so, I do not know how many words I have said, I do not know how many words I have stored, saved, in this written form. With this way of writing I am unaware of the size of what has come before me. I can guess but I cannot really guess. I am really unsure of how many words I have above me, behind me.

I read an article not long ago - I am reminded by what I have just said - I read an article a while ago which spoke about how different communities, well, civilizations, is that a better word? Perhaps civilizations is the word. And they viewed time differently, they perceived it differently. Whereas typical Western cultures perceive the past as behind them, these other communities viewed the past as in front of them. It was an interesting read.

But for me right now the past is behind me, the future is in front of me, and it's an easier metaphor because I am driving. I am going to a location, I am moving towards it. The surface I have covered is behind me, the surface I have not touched yet is in front of me. The past is behind, the future is in front.

It's funny, I suppose I could say that all the words I'm about to say are on this road. Every metre is a new word. This is a new word with this piece of the road. This is a new word on this piece of the road. New sentences, new sentences, new sentences.

I am driving, more words will come, but not now. I think I have finished with this piece. I will let it sit as it is now. I will let this be the size of it. This is the size this piece will be.
