She was in the middle of making one of the most difficult decisions of her life, and it was frying her brain. Changes or Starman? The narrowing down to two had happened pretty swiftly, which truly surprised her, but this, this was something else. I mean she only had one shot! There are no do-overs!
At one point Changes had taken a lead; she made the (controversial) judgement that that song was the poppier of the two. But then she panicked, getting hypnotized by a storyline where the meaning behind the lyrics gets scrutinized, with the lyrics being misinterpreted as a dig, and a fight erupting at the crescendo. Instinctively – aka still influenced by the disaster fantasy without realising it – she pressed Starman on her phone. Bowie's guitar illuminated the kitchen. She ran to the door, opened it. A millisecond later she was struck by the aura of soulmates in close proximity as the first few beats of Bowie's Changes filled the hallway. The best friends, drenched in emotion, hugged tightly, while the music did the same in the room... in their history... in their souls...
